"What the hell..." - Muttered Lucas.

Spiders. Spiders everywhere, of all shapes and sizes.

The catgirl, the unnamed character, followed Lucas.

"No go, girl." - Said Lucas - "I'll get Wings to get you out of here and somewhere safe! I will NOT have you waltz into the middle of a battle, you're a caster!"

The catgirl nodded and Lucas called Wings, which appeared and, once the catgirl had gotten in, floated away.

"Time to kill some mindless drones..." - Said Lucas, evenly, sword drawn, as she charged at the veritable army of spider beings.

Lucas might have been a bit more contained if she didn't know these beings had no free will or actual life per se.

Might.

She charged at the beings, chopping them deftly and quickly. While they had failed to hit Lucas with any of their weapons, they quickly learned and changed tactics.

Lucas charged again...

...and got gobs upon gobs of web shot at her for her troubles. Her wings got stuck to her back and her arms and hands got stuck both to the sword and to her abs.

Lucas fell hard to the ground, virtually paralyzed.

She looked up at the soldiers.

"Not like this." - She thought, furiously, as the beings moved to attack her - "Not by a bunch of mindless drones, please, not like this..."

Seeing the battle from within her cave, Arachne smiled.

I may not be able to attack your destiny directly, angel... - She thought - But I CONTROL THIS WORLD!
