The family cowered in the living room, tentatively watching the cracks of sunlight that speared in past the edge of the curtain. They huddled together on the sofa, flicking through the news channels in searching for something.
Mark and Linda cuddled the boys trying to keep them quiet and calm. Mikey was pacing the room, muttering incoherently about how it should be the shadows and something called the Vashta Nerada. Jon felt a bit embarrassed at his parents attempts being a little too old for reassuring cuddles.
However, when his phone rang he jumped, causing his mum to let out a brief scream. Jon saw that it was from Karyn, he left the living room and went carefully to the kitchen, apparently she'd been caught in her bed as the sunlight had crept up transforming her in her sleep.
Jon pressed her to reveal how she'd been transformed but she just went silent, and refused to say. Jon promised to come over and see her as soon as .... as soon as when, he didn't know. But he did promise to be there for her, and help her cope. Karyn thanked him, and hung up.
He returned to the living room, and Mikey was agitated, he punched the wall in frustration. Before walking back to the sofa.
Jon's bratty sister came into the living room, she was chattering away madly about how it was all a big conspiracy against her going on a date. She huffed when her friend dared to disagree, before hanging up angrily. Turning her phone sideways she started surfing the net for news. She chewed her lips pensively as she found no useful information, she wandered over to the table and continued to ignore her family.
There was a huge rumble outside the window, but fortunately Jon stopped Mikey before he could open the curtain. He dragged his little brother back to the sofa, and his mother's open arms.
The rumble repeated, but much closer. Suddenly there was a huge green blur, and a deep roar, as a figure that looked like the incredible hulk smashed through the corner of the living room. The sunlight flooded in hitting the whole family, they didn't even have time to panic. As they transformed in an instant.
Jon took his hands away from his eyes, and looked around the room. He felt his heart sink when he saw Daphne, and Fred on the Sofa with Shaggy, but his second biggest shock was Scooby, whining with his speech impediment. "Roh Oh! This is all Jon's fault, I just rhow it."
Jon pushed his glasses back up his nose with a deep sense of fear, before looking down, just to confirm.
Damn it, yup he was Velma. Fred looked timidly about, and when he spotted Daphne, asked "Mike is that you?" She nodded in shock, "But why am I Daphne and you're Fred." He tried hard but his voice couldn't help sounding a little pathetic.
Linda his mum was now Freddy, and his dad was Daphne. Leaving only his sister as Shaggy.
He couldn't help comparing he was definitely larger than his... her mum... dad in her new body. Six months as a cartoon sleuth, boy was it going to be hard. But at least he hadn't lost his/her intelligence.
"Jinkies." a stressed giggle escaped as she looked around the wrecked room.
