A few minutes later Zoe and Linda were in Zoe's room looking for supplies. Zoe had been grabbing things out of her closet and holding them up to Linda. A long stream of corset and skirts were passing in front of Linda and then being discarded onto the bed. The more Linda saw the more nervous she became that Zoe owned these clothes, let alone expected her to wear any of them. Linda's face grew increasingly concerned but she was determined to see this through. Finally Zoe burst out laughing. Linda wasn't sure what was going on, but chuckled nervously.
"You really are serious about this." Zoe said. "I was wondering when you going to stop me."
"I told you I meant business. By the way young lady, we are going to need to discuss the appropriateness of your wardrobe when this is all over." Linda said starting to relax.
"Fair enough." Zoe said, still chuckling to herself. "Don't worry though, Mom, I have something I think will work well for you." Zoe reached into her closet and pulled out a black halter dress. It was a velvety material and shimmered slightly in the light. "We are going to have to accessories like crazy, but I think this is a good starting point.
"That looks lovely." Linda said genuinely relieved. "Are you sure it's 'gothy' enough, though?"
"Just because you would actually be caught dead in it, doesn't mean it's not gothic. Besides there are a lot of different goth styles. I figured we'd try a more formal look for you than I usually go for."
"That sounds like a good plan. I won't lie; I was worried you were just going to throw me into one of your corsets."
"There is still plenty of time for that. Put this on, and I'll start gathering the rest."
Linda ran to her room and changed into the dress. By the time she returned Zoe had finished gathering the rest of her outfit. And as promised there was a corset. It was a simple purple waist cincher. Zoe wasted no time wrapping it around her waist and lacing her into it. It wasn't as uncomfortable as Linda feared, but not as comfortable as she had hoped. Next, Zoe had Linda put on a pair of spider web patterned tights, and high heeled ankle boots. Then came the jewelry, several rings and bracelets all of which bore some manner of spike or skull. The finishing touch was one of Zoe's spiked chokers going around Linda's neck.
"Phase one complete." Zoe announced. "Now the real fun can commence"
"Real fun?" Linda asked
"You're hair and makeup. They're my favorite parts of any goth look." Zoe replied.
