Lucas looked around it, mouth agape, trying to make sense of it all. Even in this new world, she did sometimes have to pause and appreciate how plain impossible things had gotten. And yet, she had a nagging feeling that something was escaping her mind. Something important in what Neruite told her...
It hit her like a ton of bricks.
It asks... It recognizes...
"Goddess..." - She said, slowly, in quite a bit of awe - "I... Is this... Is the ship... I mean... Er..."
"Alive." - Neruite nodded - "After a fashion, it very much is a living construct, yes. You can still control it and it will obey you. Of its own free will, before you worry." - Neruite smiled.
Lucas touched the anvil. This being, this magical thing, this ship that existed for so long before Lucas, before anything she could even conceive of. And it was willing to submit to her?
"You don't get it." - Said Neruite, smiling a bit. - "I never named the ship so I could allow it to rest as I would not take it anywhere. Its purpose is to travel, it is to see things. She needs you and certainly does not mind your nature. After a fashion, Lucas, she takes after you."
"Huh? Er... It was created way before me." - Said Lucas.
"Yet, it and you are very similar." - Said Neruite - "I believe that, while it was built for me, it is very much yours and always was."
The bridge was a small, comfortable place with several lights. Lucas somehow knew what they meant, as if the place were attuned to her kind of thinking.
She still needed a name.
A word. Or a few. Lucas, the translator, was at a loss for them now. All that separated her and being the sole owner, or caretaker, or partner of this ancient and magnificent thing, this creation of the ages, was some words.
Lucas paused for a long time.
"Wings."
The bridge suddenly lit up more, expanding beyond its original size. Lucas was about to make a remark to the effect of "bigger on the inside" when she felt the ship shake some as it seemed to be enclosed by a sort of bubble. The ship then quickly lifted high above the Moon, and Lucas ran towards the deck. The ship was now above the Lunar exosphere, overlooking eternity.
"It has an air pocket that is renewed by the ship itself." - Said Neruite - "And its top speed... Well... When it is traveling in space, normally, it reaches just short of the speed of light. But it can create wormholes..."
But Lucas wasn't really listening and Selene would be glad to recount the information to her later anyways. Right now, Lucas was too busy.
She was busy looking at the whole universe around her, at what she now had...
At everything.
