As the nurse examined Haru, Lucas once again appeared besides her with the portal. Haru was too focused on her own problems to take notice of how the angel walked in, but the nurse yelped.
Again.
"You help out people in actual life or death situations for a living, you see people bloodied and battered every day, and you're squeamish about teleportation?" - Asked Lucas.
"Bloodied people respect the laws of physics..." - Said the nurse.
"Heh. Laws. Listen. Call the doctor. I know why her third eye is like this. I can't go into too much detail, but I can explain some what's going on and give you guys some proof."
The nurse looked a bit skeptical, but left to get the doctor.
"What are you?" - Said Haru - "I know you didn't blind me. But... I saw things... I... You entered Nineteen Eighty-Four... You... Were twisting the arm of some politician..."
"Well, literally, I didn't, but, if your power is symbolic... Glasses, looked like a troll doll?" - Said Lucas.
"Yes." - Said Haru.
"Then I know who you're talking about. Yeah, never met him. DID twist his arm." - Said Lucas - "Look. I was sorta... informed of you. The Enemy did it."
"I figured it..." - Said Haru - "What... What was the water thing? I saw so much water..."
"Well... My sword is... linked to the element. It's complicated." - Said Lucas.
"There is someone you should meet. A slug girl name Jon. She has the Earth stone." - Said Haru.
"The... Oh. So... Lakeside... That's why... Shit..." - Said Lucas, the realization dawning.
The doctor, a beautiful redheaded centauress, walked in with the nurse. Lucas turned to her, smiling jauntily, as if she hadn't just heard a major bit of information."
"Why, hello there!"
"Good afternoon. I'm doctor Jacob Wolowitz, the chief ophthalmologist here..." - She said - "You are the angel woman that brought her here, right? What exactly happened? Did she hit her head on the fall?"
"I don't think so. Plus it's not really why she's blinded. I need to show you some proof, though..." - With that, Lucas calmly opened a portal to the Moon. The centauress watched it with some surprise. The nurse - by now "used" to it - was a bit calmer. The place offered a view of the Earth, including South America.
"I can see my house from here..." - Lucas quipped - "You guys can walk right in if you wanna. It's okay, there's gravity, oxygen..."
Doctor Jacob walked into the place and looked around.
"Impressive..." - She said - "You either got some illusion powers or you got a sweet deal in the change."
"I'm showing you this" - said Lucas - "because I'm about to make a big, unbelievable claim. Well... I can't go into much detail, but I am pretty sure medical knowledge won't help her. I'll try and find a way myself. Basically, these beings, not changed ones, they cast this... darkness... into her third eye. Her third eye is a bit of a threat to them. She learns things... It's all I can tell you without risking a boatload of stuff, but basically you'd be trying to treat a person for blindness when what she has is a blindfold on her."
"A third eye in the mythical sense." - Said the doctor, evenly - "I see. You are right that your claim is hard to believe. The fact that we are here isn't proof to THAT claim either. It proves you're powerful, but it doesn't prove that there's an "enemy" or some such."
"So... You don't believe me?" - Said Lucas.
"I didn't say that either. I was a 50-year old man. I'm now a 25-year old centauress. I can't discount this kind of thing anymore. Doesn't mean I believe you, but I don't DISbelieve you. However, I am a bit offended that you discount medicine so easily..." - She smiled lightly.
"Well... This is a sorta... outside-your-field... thing?" - Said Lucas.
"Your name is Lucas, right?" - Said the doctor - "Lucas. What do you do for a living?"
"Freelance translator. English-Portuguese." - Said Lucas.
"Surely you are more than a person with a bilingual dictionary, yes?" - Said Jacob.
"Of course." - Said Lucas.
"Likewise, a doctor is more than a man with a disease compendium. You said they cast something into her third eye. I understand that it may have some special quality... But science has its tools as well. So, don't discount us and we won't discount you." - Said Jacob, smirking.
The three went back to Haru's room.
Jacob nodded. "Haru, we will need to call your parents now that you're awake. What's their phone number?"
Haru gave the doctor the number. The doctor and the nurse left.
Lucas looked at Haru.
"Kid, even if they don't work around it, I'll find a way to give you back your sight..."
"I'm sorry, but... How?"
"I'll find a way. You know all those things you saw about me, kid? They're true. That's how I'll do it." - Said Lucas,
"Lucas... There's something else. Jon... The Earth Stone..." - Said Haru.
"Yes?" - Asked Lucas. Haru paused. Then kept going.
"It's what changed the Sun."
