Death ran after Lucas, who was, right now, fighting the Devourer, with limited success at best. She had hit it all right, it's just it was an amorphous mass with no clear weak points. Whereas if it hit her...
"ACK!!!" - Lucas yelled out as that happened. She was now bleeding profusely from a puncture wound right between her breasts. She gritted her teeth as she landed, idly looking at the size of the wound.
I shouldn't be alive, let alone standing. What the hell???
"Death? Did you do something?" - Said Lucas as she charged again at the creature.
Death nodded.
"I don't have to take people while they are outside Time. So I'm choosing not to..."
Lucas charged at the being once more, now much more silent.
This means that, once I make it back... I'm gonna die. Dammit...
She had yet to fully grasp it. She kept fighting, with the renewed efforts of one who had nothing, literally nothing, to lose.
The Time Devourer, the being who was to feed on time itself, attacked its enemy. Once the Time Devourer had managed to hit it and said enemy began releasing that red liquid, the enemy had become much more silent - and, oddly, more dangerous, at least insofar as the enemy was dangerous at all.
The Devourer suddenly felt something, and involuntarily flinched.
"Lucas! Are you all right?" - Said Hawkins, looking at Lucas's bloodied shirt as he prepared another shot.
"I'm literally a dead man walking, Hawkins. The only reason I'm not dead right now is Death is exploiting a loophole. Once I'm back home, I'm gonna die." - She said. Hawkins himself, the coolness in person, found her tone cold.
Hawkins kept shooting at it, trying not to think of the impending death of his friend.
At least I'll distract it until we find a way to actually beat it...
