"Uhm..." - Lucas hesitated - "Look. The match was to take place on the Moon, plus now is literally not the time..."
"What are you talking about?" - Said Death, right now in the gothic girl guise. No chess board.
Lucas suddenly found herself back on those streets, and blinked.
"Well, you were just inviting me to play chess... Or... Something? I saw some... Shades too... Potential space..." - Said Lucas.
"I remember it. Yet I do not. But I and you feel time differently, so I would not discount it. The beings you saw are beings made out of potential, and exist outside time. Lucas. You call them the Enemy." - Said Death.
"THOSE? Dammit... I should have taken the time to kill at least one!" - Said Lucas.
"Moreover, it is not a coincidence that we should pass by them here." - Said Death.
"Goodie. So THEY are trying to do us in, then?" - Said Lucas.
"Yep. That you passed by them should mean we are close to where we should be..." - Said Death - "Let's hurry."

Lilly finally managed to finish playing with Melanie.
"I thank you for appearing, little one." - Said the sphinx-man - "Melanie seems to have enjoyed playing with you."
Lilly nodded politely.
"Thank you, Mr. Walsh... I, er, have to go now..."
Mr. Walsh nodded and went to open the door and show Lilly out. The sphinx-man looked up at the sky. Not a cloud. Yet...
"I suggest you hurry home, little one. I sense a storm... It has been a pleasure..."
Lilly nodded, said her goodbyes and left.
A few blocks in, Lilly interrupted her walk home all of a sudden. To the untrained eye, it could be just a squirrel-girl stopping for some reason.
However, the reason made it unusual. Namely, the voice in her head.
You wish to learn magic. If so, stop walking and wait.
Lilly did. As she blinked, she did a double-take. She was still in front of the same big, lavish house.
Except, now, copies of that big, lavish house and of the street and block she was in stretched as far as the eye could see.
That and, in front of her, was a black box.
If you wish to gain the power of magic, take that box and walk forward.
