Robert and Lucas waited for Jay to show up. It wasn't unpleasant, but something clicked with Robert at a given moment.
"Lucas... If you are having to drink some sort of a potion to stay awake, don't you think you are overdoing it?"
Lucas shrugged.
"Lots of stuff came up. Not only the fate thing or the baby thing, I'm doing a lot of stuff on the side with the plot of land and all..."
"You do realize you have limits. Even now you will fall asleep the moment you leave your plot if you don't sleep some here, no?" - Said Robert.
"Yeah, yeah. And I can't well seek out Kyle running on empty. It's just... Oh." - Said Lucas - "That's it..."
"Go on." - Said Robert.
"I'm in a power trip." - Said Lucas, sighing - "Granted, I'm not being an asshole, partly because I KNOW how it feels to be the target of a power trip, but..."
Robert nodded. "But you feel powerful, so you try and influence events, no matter the scope. This isn't bad per se, but you might exhaust yourself."
"Yeah. Okay. I'll get some sleep after the interview. I'll have to seek out Kyle tomorrow anyways, it's just as well that I do it in the afternoon. - Said Lucas.
"Right. Are you sure you want to lend me the money to help with the baby for now?" - Said Robert.
"No, I'm giving it. Before you ask, no, this isn't about the power trip, it's about me being thankful and able to help. Well, insofar as I can. Sorry about freezing when I saw the baby cry..." - Said Lucas, blushing.
"Not at all." - Said Robert - "It does leave me with the problem of who to leave the baby with. Selene has a job, so does Cassandra. And, well..."
"I'm incompetent on that one matter, yes." - Said Lucas - "Maybe I could create some sort of a robot here on the Lunar surface that could..."
Lucas looked at Robert, who was clearly trying to find the most polite way possible to say Lucas was batshit insane.
"Or maybe not." - Said Lucas.
"Babysitters exist, Lucas." - Said Robert, smiling. - "If it means that much to you, I will accept your financial help, but not the robots."
"Yeeeah, sorry 'bout that." - Said Lucas, sighing - "Gotta rein in on myself a bit."
"Yo, folks, Jay's here!" - Said a disembodied voice that sounded like Adam Sandler.
Robert looked around, listening to the 'doorbell' Lucas had set up.
"You never change..." - Said Robert, smirking.
Neruite chose that moment to walk in, cradling the baby in her arms, rolled up in a blue blanket with silvery embroidering. Lucas blushed seeing that.
"Here she is, Robert." - Said Neruite, gently - "Good luck with the interview, Lucas." - She left the room as Lucas opened the door.
"Morning, Jay." - Said Lucas - "Owe ya one. This is the baby, and I believe you know Robert and myself."
The fox reporter nodded as she entered with Mike, the ice-sculpture woman.
"I don't mind at all, Lucas. I'm just not sure how much this will help."
"Well, anything beats nothing. Think I should give my input too, so as to show those idiots that an 'angel' also knows this baby is innocent?" - Said Lucas.
"Depends on your temper, really, Lucas." - Said Jay, flatly.
"Oh, I can play nice." - Said Lucas - "Relax, I won't call them morons in front of the cameras."
"Right. Anyways, shall we get ready?" - Said Jay.
Robert nodded. Mike set up the camera.
