"Y-you're kidding, right?"
Neruite/Celine/Selene chuckled. Even ancient beings are entitled to their fun, which is why her goddess side had been waiting as much to get this reaction from Lucas as her human side.
"Let me put it this way, Lucas. You and Cass happen to be two of rather few mortals that know of the gods. I am also trying to help both sides cope with the Sun change. And, most important of all, you two spent about one day believing yourselves to have a LOT of power without trying to misuse it. And you even know why not to."
"Believing? So... uhm... What can't we do here?" - Said Lucas.
"Well, I'll give you a more detailed list of restrictions later on, but suffice to say I would not give you any game-breaker powers, to use your vocabulary. Those things you did, though, you can do, no problem. But I had to let you believe yourselves omnipotent in order for the test to work. Bear in mind that I put you through it for the benefit of the gods. I've been in your mind, I know what you would not do. I trust you are not offended?"
"Not really, I still got the coolest place ever, thanks to you. Give me a moment, though, I think Cass should be here for this..."
Lucas went to get Cass.
"So... Lucas told me of the 'test' thing, and it's cool. She also said you would take us to a meeting of the gods? I am honored that you would take us to watch such an important event..." - Said Cass, by Lucas's side.
"Watch it? You two are going to speak in it." - Said Neruite. - "And the gods will listen, for the rules state that whoever speaks is given due respect and, indeed, heard."
Anime-rendered, Lucas's eyes LITERALLY widened to the size of saucers.
"Er... But do the rules allow for mortals to...? I mean... I never thought..."
Artemis spoke up.
"I am goddess and mortal. So is my mother as Selene. I cannot well leave Harriet behind, nor can she leave Celine behind when entering the Assembly."
"Uhm, yes, but I and Lucas are full mortals..." - Said Cass.
"The rules do not forbid it." - Said Artemis - "And neither I nor my mother will accept any deity making an issue of it. You have the protection of the Moon herself. And mine own by extension." - she continued - "'sides", said Harriet, "you got me the DVD and you were nice t'me, so I think you're cool!"
Lucas blinked a bit at that last part, thrown off by the sudden change in discourse.
"Well... Okay. So, how do the debates work?"
"It is a round table. You raise your hand to speak, unless you have been spoken to. Usual rules, really. Gods do tend to be polite to each other, because, well, they know that each can play merry hell on one another's domains. That and we are a bit different from the 'like humans, but with lots of power' depictions we get in myths." - Said Neruite.
Lucas nodded, making a mental note to be VERY polite.
"Just curious, should we bring anything? I mean, is it like a potluck or something? I mean, yeah, it sounds like a stupid question, but I don't wanna make mistakes..."
"Don't worry about that. You will see what is served there." - Said Neruite, smirking - Oh, by the way, the Assembly doesn't take place in the Far Plane, but you will see each deity as filtered by your perception..."
"Riiiight..." - said Lucas, frowning a bit.
"You're worried about us seeing Athena as Saori Kido from Saint Seiya, aren't you?" - Said Cass.
"Yep."
