"Putaquepariuputaquepariuputaquepariuputaquepariu... (1)" - muttered Lucas. She knew she couldn't outrun the ninja. Or if she could, Cass couldn't. The moment she thought of flying Cass out of there, Kotaro threw shurikens at Lucas. She blocked them, but, with him having ranged attacks, it was clear flying out wasn't quite an option. That left one alternative.

Lucas stepped in front of Cass and drew her sword. Shit had just gotten real.

(1) - "Holyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuck..."

"So, that eclipse thing, huh? What was that? Did you feel anything?" - said Rachel, talkative as usual, as she and David climbed the stairs to the Angel Cafe. Rachel had taken to wearing something when going there, much to David's relief.

"I didn't, Rachel." - Said David - "I didn't have a good impression, but I didn't feel anyth... Oh. Father Douglas."

Robert looked at the newcomers, as she sat on the ground in the bell tower.

"Ah. Hello, er, David, I assume? Are you going to the Angel Cafe?"

Rachel smiled.

"Yeah."

"I found out that non-angels must be accompanied by an angel in order to enter..." - Said Robert.

"So you wanna come with? Follow us." - Said Rachel. David nodded and opened the door. This time, the door gave way to a cozy and well-lit diner/coffee shop.

Cass extended her aura, both in order to give Lucas more room to fight and in order to protect herself. At its largest extension, it covered about twenty feet. What she saw was clearly different from what Lucas saw, and she wondered idly if it would affect her differently. This made her even more frightful of it; it was one thing to be outright killed, but her image - The Joker - was able to make people laugh to death. She found out she feared for Lucas, and the image of her lover dead with a rictus on her face in the middle of, literally, nowhere came into her mind uninvited.

It was not a pretty thought, and Cass furiously tried to think of a way to affect the tropes of this fight without changing genres.

Lucas parried Kotaro's moves, trying to study her opponent. The ninja fought with two bracers and long nails, and his method was nothing like the game Lucas's unconscious projected upon him. He fought without a method, without a pattern. Like an amateur that, yet, could fight perfectly. Lucas also knew that, unlike the game, a well-placed hit might end her life then and there. Likewise, her opponent didn't have a health bar either.

"Kotaro" attacked Lucas without a respite, without rhyme or reason, never using the exact same move twice. The angel was, somehow, quite good at dodging and parrying, more than she had any right to be. The thing that was shaped as Kotaro right now couldn't think or conceive of things in any humanlike way. It fought, it raged and it imposed disorder. It created chaos. It had no reason, neither did it have fury. His attacks weren't out of anger, self-interest or any motivation. He just existed and was doing that. Eventually, the angel was going to hit it. Or he was going to hit the angel. Or both would hit each other. One of them would likely cease to exist after this fight. It did not matter.

Robert entered the Cafe with Rachel and David. Oddly, Angus was manning the counter, while Lois sat and stared at one of the doors, a worried look on her face.

"Hey. Lois?" - Said Rachel - "You okay?"

"What? Oh... Er, hi, Rachel..." - Said Lois, absent-mindedly - "I'm fine... Just... worried about something, is all..."

Robert piped in. "Er, I'm Father Robert. Lucas told me about you... I assumed she'd come here with Miss Wilkins..."

Lois looked glumly at Robert.

"She did."

"What happened?" - Asked David.

"Lucas and Cass went outside..." - Said Lois, trying to gather the words.

"And you're worried about them not being here?" - Said Rachel, bemused.

"They went outside reality. They figured out a way to go from here to... wherever it is that gods would tread, as Lucas put it. They are... somewhere else. In another world, or outside our universe, or... something. I don't know if they're alive or... anything!"

"That's... impossible..." - Said Robert - "You mean Lucas and Ms. Wilkins are looking for... God?"

"Or gods, or goddesses. Or whatever are the building blocks of reality. If you assume reality is a play, the two, being characters, just went backstage." - Nodded Lois - "They are looking for God in the most literal sense, Father. And I have no idea if they'll survive what they're doing, or even if they'll not suffer even worse fates than just dying..."

Rachel and David sat down. Rachel was the first one to externalize what the three were feeling.

"Holy shit..."
