If it wasn’t already embarrassing enough that I had to go to school dressed like a boi, I also had to go to the bois’ school, which unfortunately meant having to get on the bois’ bus. You know, the pink one. You can only imagine my face when the bus pulled up and the doors flung open to reveal a grumpy-looking woman at the wheel. It seemed that shi wasn’t any happier to be there than I was. At least shi got to wear normal clothes!
The first thing that hit me as I stepped onto the bus wasn’t the sea of pink. It was the strong scent of a heavily perfumed bus. Not only were the bois wearing perfume—Jonatha had even made me wear some—but the whole bus seemed to smell of it. No wonder the bus driver had hir window open.
All the bois had been chatting merrily, but as soon as I stepped on, shortly followed by Jonatha and Michelle-Anne, the whole bus went silent. Obviously everybody knew who I was. I stood by the door in shock until Jonatha nudged me to move on. As we made our way through the bus I could feel everybody staring at me. I saw a couple of bois whisper to one another before giggling and I blushed. I wanted to turn around and get off but Jonatha wouldn’t let me. Instead, hei pointed to a couple of empty seats and urged me towards them.
Fortunately, the seats were towards the back of the bus, and to my relief, there was someone I knew sitting next to an empty seat. Julianna! When hei saw me approaching, hei looked at me sympathetically and stood up, offering the window seat to me. I flashed hym a weak smile but took the seat gratefully. At least, by the window, I could try and hide my shame from everybody else. Jonatha and Michelle-Anne took the row of seats behind us. At least they wouldn’t be too far away.
“Hey,” Julianna greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. Hei lgave me a once over and then turned around to Jonatha. “Thanks for not dressing hir up too boily.”
Jonatha smiled. “You’re welcome. As hard as it was for me to resist the urge to dress hir up like a Kinnabelle doll, I did my best with what I had.”
“Well, I’m sure that Zane appreciates it. Even if shi doesn’t say it.” Julianna pulled me into a tight hug.
“Um...yeah. Thanks, bro.”
“Don’t mention it. Just be glad that Julianna let me dress you up instead of Michelle-Anne. Hei would have had you wearing a prom dress or something.” Jonatha laughed, while Michelle-Anne crossed hys arms under hys chest and pouted.
“Hey, that’s not fair! I can’t help it that I’m way more fashionable than you,” hei whined. Jonatha, still laughing, gently patted Michelle-Anne on hys knee before nodding.
“I know, I was just teasing.”
Julianna, sensing my discomfort, placed a hand on my knee and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.
“I’m really sorry, Zane,” hei whispered. “You know that this isn’t what I meant when I made the wish. I just wanted to spend more time together.” I nodded.
“I know, it’s not your fault.” I replied. “It’s the stone’s. We just need to be more careful with the way we word our wishes.”
Julianna agreed and then, turning towards Jonatha and Michelle-Anne, decided to change the subject.
“Did you see that dress that Rylie Fields was wearing last night?” Both Jonatha and Michelle-Anne oohed and aahed in response.
“Oh my Goddess,” Jonatha cooed. “It was amazing, the way it hugged hys figure and showed off hys waist. I wish that I could have a dress like that.”
The bois were obviously referring to some kind of TV show for bois, like a reality show or something. I had zero interest, but since I was sitting on a bus full of bois, it was obviously something that I had to endure.
The rest of the journey continued in similar fashion with the bois all gossipping about things that I didn’t have a clue about. The latest celebrity fashion, makeup, reality TV, that sort of thing. I just tried my best to drown it out and prepare myself for what was about to come.
