What a night for Jen. Being confined to a room in a hospital with nothing to do but to stare at the ceiling and "enjoying" her headache she was more than happy when she was released in the late morning. Though, much to her disappointment the doc believed that she was even fit enough to visit the school the next day. Jen had hoped that, with her leg and head wounds, she could skip it for the rest of the week. What a letdown. She was taken home by a friend of her aunt, some sort of Hyena-woman, since Jens aunt was unable to leave the house due to her transformation.
But thanks to the headache that was tormenting the demon-girl they didn't share many words. They approached an old Victorian style mansion near the recently burned church. It was one of the oldest buildings in the area that was still intact, almost as old as the church and dated back in the days when this town was founded. Back then it was owned by some kind of banker or so Jen was told by her aunt and since her aunt worked for the banks as well, it was kind of fitting. Though, Jen herself was never fond of such big buildings and would probably never get used to so many rooms.
When the car drove into the garage Jen suddenly felt incredibly tired. There was a tension within her she didn't feel until now but once she was back home, a place she felt secure despite the fact she lived here only for a few days the tension wore off almost in an instant and Jen almost fell asleep right where she stood. She was, after all awake for nearly two whole days if she didn't count the time the demon-girl was unconscious. Together with the hyena-woman Jen entered the house and found herself in a spacious hallway where a bodiless, artificially sounding voice from hidden speakers greeted the Jen and her aunt's friend.
"Jen, finally. Are you alright, are you feeling well?"
The voice was filled with poorly hidden concern.
"Yeah, fine. Just tired. Tell you later, going to bed now." And with this Jen was off towards her room.
"Wait. Jen." The voice tried to call the demon-girl but Jen didn't listen, she entered her room, fell in her bed and slept in an instant. Complete with clothes and anything.
"Well, thanks for the tea. But I really must be on my way now or I don't make it in time." the hyena-woman sat in the kitchen of the house talked to the silhouette of a woman that seemed to be merged with the wall just across the table. The figure didn't move and again there was the bodiless voice again. This time however it came directly from inside the figure rather than from some hidden speakers.
"Yes. And thank you again for all your help."
Ahh don't mind it Heather. You would help me the same way if it was the other way around."
"Still, I can't shake off the feeling I overdid it today. After all, getting Jen home was on quite a short notice."
"I told you, it's all right. Quit it already."
It didn't take long before the hyena-woman reached the garage.
"Well then. I see you later. Bye Heather."
"Thank y "
"I said stop it."
Before the woman named Heather got the chance to apologize again the hyena-woman entered her car and drove off.
A red light flared up in Jen's room, indicating that one of her aunt's camera eyes had started up. She had promised the devil-girl not to use them or her sensors to spy after her but she was worried for her niece, even if the doc said that all wounds were worse looking than they actually were, thanks to Jen's especially thick skin. The house-woman just couldn't help it. When she saw her niece laying on the bed in full clothing small holes in the walls all across the room opened and small, mechanical tentacles came out of em, all equipped with smell claws. She undressed her demon-niece, careful not to awaken her. Afterwards she lifted her up and placed Jen properly on the bed.
While Heather did all this she took a quick glance across the room and couldn't help but to imaginarily shake her head. The room was littered with clothes, pens and half-finished drawings, cables, videogames and used dishes.
She had planned to ask Jen for everything that happened while she was gone. But she decided telling her to clean up this mess would need a higher priority.
Jen slept until lunchtime when a growling stomach drove her out of bed. With a groan the demon-girl rolled out of bed, wincing when she hurt one of her wings. She had, for a moment, forgotten that she possessed them now. The next moment, Jen winced again when she put her weigh on her injured leg. She forgot this as well thanks to her headache. Well, at least those started to get weaker. Jen quickly got dressed and made her way down the stairs and into the kitchen where her aunt greeted her.
"Back among the living? Hope you rested well."
"Nghh."
Jen prepared a bowel with cereals and sat down on the kitchen table where she dug into the cereals as if the girl was starving.
"You know, I didn't came around noticing how you take care of your room. Let me get this clear darling, by tomorrow evening it is either cleaned or I make sure you won't be able to use your beloved videogames anymore until it is clean."
"Nghh eahhh."
"I'm serious here young lady."
"Eahh" Jen gave in defeated. She knew her aunt was serious and worst; she was capable to pull it off thanks to her transformation. Also, she wasn't in the mood to discuss much with her.
Her aunt patiently waited until the demon-girl finished her quick lunch before she asked Jen about her time from the moment she disappeared with the town until she returned and Jen told her as good as her memory and headache allowed her to.
It took her quite some time to finish the whole story since her aunt Heather interrupted her every so often to ask her if she really was feeling alright until it got too much for Jen and she yelled at her aunt. Afterwards she could finally finish the story without further interruptions.
When Jen finally ended her story an awkward silence fell upon the kitchen. Her aunt wanted to ask her if she was feeling alright, it was just such an urge, but she knew this would upset Jen, who, on her turn just wanted to dwell in silence until her headache would be gone.
"Well, for something different, the doc said you were good for school and I decided to send you. It is time for you to go so I won't let you stay home until next week."
"Fine. Can I go back to bed now?"
"Huh? Uh, sure." Jens aunt was truly surprised that her niece didn't try to talk herself out of it. Jen must be really tired if she accepted going to school so easily. That was something she didn't expect.
