As I made my way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about Nathen’s accidental wish and wondering if there was a way to fix it. In fact, I was so lost in thought that I hadn’t even noticed that I reached home until I stood on the porch. On autopilot, I dug my keys out of my pocket and opened the door.

“Hey babe!”

I was greeted cheerfully by my boifriend Julianna who released me from my current train of thought as hei gave me a quick peck on the cheek and flashed me a smile. Hys smile quickly turned to a look of concern however as hei noticed the look on my face.

“Is everything okay?” hei asked as I started to shrug off my jacket. I nodded.

“Yeah, everything’s fine. I was just thinking about something that happened earlier.” Julianna took my jacket and hung it up on the coat rack by the door. I smiled. Hei would make a fine househusbenne someday.

“I came to see you after school had finished but you were chatting to Nathen and it looked important,” Julianna explained. “So I came here to wait for you and your dad let me in.”

At the sound of hys name, Dad poked hys head around the kitchen door.

“Hi, honey… How was your day?” I shrugged my shoulders.

“It was okay, I guess.” Aside from Nathen’s accidental wish, nothing really interesting had happened, and although I was contemplating telling Julianna about the stone, I certainly wasn’t going to tell my dad about it. I took Julianna’s hand.

“We’ll be up in my room,” I told Dad as we headed upstairs. The rest of the house was empty. Jonatha was probably hanging out with some of hys cheerleader friends, and Michelle-Anne was at fashion club.

I threw my school bag onto the floor as we entered my room and I closed the door behind me. It was a typical gurl’s room: clothes strewn about on the floor, a few posters hanging up on the wall. I had a TV and an Xbox sitting in front of my bed and a computer in the corner. I sat down on the bed and motioned for Julianna to join me.

On the way home from school, I had been thinking about Nathen’s wish and if I should tell Julianna about the stone. On one hand, it might be fun to share the stone with both my best friend and my boifriend, but on the other, it might be dangerous. What if Julianna got it into hys head that bois could be better than gurls? As I watched Julianna sit down next to me, smoothing hys skirt out as hei did so, I shook my head. I was being silly, wasn’t I? The worst thing that Julianna could probably do would be to wish that we were married and I wasn’t ready for that yet so I took the plunge.

“Hey, Julianna,” I began as I sat down on my bed and indicated that hei should join me. “What would you do if you had unlimited wishes?”

Julianna looked at me as if I was being funny, but when hei realized that I was being completely serious hei started thinking.

“Hmm…” Hei paused for a moment. “Well, there’s that dress that I’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford, and prom is coming up.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Really, Julianna? Unlimited wishes and you wish for more clothes?”

“What?” hei asked innocently. “A boi can never have too many clothes, you know.”

“It’s just such a typical boi thing to do, that’s all,” I replied, grinning. In that moment, I decided that it would be fine to show Julianna the stone. Hei wasn’t going to wish for anything too dramatic. I reached into my school bag and brought the box that held the stone.

“This is what I was talking to Nathen about after school,” I explained. Julianna looked at me expectantly as I opened the box and took out the stone.

“A rock?” Julianna asked. “You wanted to show me and Nathen… a rock?” Hei was unimpressed until I showed hym the letter. “You mean?” hei began once hei had read the letter. “That this stone can grant wishes? Like a genie?”

I nodded and to demonstrate, I made a wish.

“I wish that, for the next 5 minutes, Julianna had blonde hair.” Unlike most bois, who dyed their hair blonde, Julianna wore hys in its natural light brown color. Once the stone had granted the wish, however, hei now had golden blonde locks falling down past hys shoulders.

Julianna took a compact mirror out of hys purse and squealed excitedly when hei saw the results.

“OMG, Zane!” I look like a Kinnabelle doll.” I nodded in agreement. The transformation was amazing. Julianna immediately started preening and fluffing hys hair, blowing kisses to hymself in the mirror. “I’ve always wondered what I would look like as a blonde.”

“I think that you look amazing,” I told hym. Julianna smiled at me and threw me an almost bone-crushing hug before planting a big, wet kiss on my lips.

After five minutes, the wish was over and Julianna’s hair returned to its natural light brown color, styled in a ponytail and framed by a yellow headband. Hei glanced in hys compact and seemed a little saddened by this.

“You could always wish to be permanently blonde,” I suggested. “That was just a test to show you that the stone worked.” Julianna nodded, a little glumly. “But I think that you look hot either way.” That comment earned me a smile as hei brightened up. Just like a boi to be concerned about hys appearance.

“Thanks babe,” he replied, smiling. Turning towards me, hei asked, “Can I make a wish?”

I nodded and handed hym the stone.
