In the three weeks after the incident, humanity had gotten used to a night cycle. However, even the scientists failed to realize or take into account one thing.

Sunlight was causing the changes. That much they had realized, for they weren't utter morons.

However, what they failed to realize - or, rather, to take into account - was that the moon reflects between 7 and 12 percent of the sun's radiation.

As people had some protection, it did take quite longer than a mere eight times that amount of exposure for the moon to begin affecting people. But even this threshold was reached in the three weeks, especially for the people that had gone out at night the most. Sure, the transformations might be "gentler" - or they might not, due to the sheer amount of energy built up. There might be changes, variations, for the moon has always been seen as chaotic and whimsical. But the fact is, night life no longer necessarily meant protection...
