“I have better marriage prospects for Fina. Alliances that will strengthen my kingdom. Sir Garrett’s morality will be a liability to me in the future. His rallying of the knights of the silver griffin to take up political causes is worrisome. I will miss his strength but I desire him removed. Erase his memory and place him where you wish. I will tell Fina that he is lost after Albert returns. I will send out some my elite guard to contact Albert and have him instructed on the story. A grant releasing his family from their debts should ease his scruples. If not, I am sure your clever mind can create a solution. I leave the details of Sir Garrett in your hands.” King Emeril commanded Mazara.
Mazara smiled to herself satisfied at King Emeril’s response. She unlocked a personal storage vault in the wall to a collection of potions. She drew her slender finger across the glass containers till she reached a potions labeled sleep. She picked up the most potent one she could find. Mazara poured the contents into an unlabeled container so she could give it to Sir Garrett. She would need as much time as possible to remove all of Sir Garrett’s memories. She gleefully thought of the personalities she could replace Sir Garrett’s with. A loose brothel whore, a comely maid, perhaps a noble woman who she could marry off to one of Sir Garrett’s former friends. A smug smirk on her face sauntered up to the lovely form of the soon to be ex paladin. She said, “Here you go drink this and your worries about being a female will soon be gone.”
Sir Garrett eyed the potion replying, “Are you sure this will work?” Even as she spoke she drank down the potion. The drowsiness quickly hit her. Seeing Mazara’s smile turn to laughter the betrayal struck Sir Garrett. She tried to rush Mazara but her legs gave out numb from the potion. The strength of the potion proved too powerful for Sir Garrett who passed out on the cool floor.
Mazara hurried to make preparations for the series of spells she needed to cast. She excitedly did the work. Only a slight sadness that Sir Garrett would never know what Mazara did to her. With everything set up she began to gesture while chanting the invocation.
