For Sylvia, the planning continued long into the night. She was almost certain that these two strangers were from Earth, both from what she'd overheard and from their strange manners. She had even considered asking them directly, but that would only lead to reciprocal questions she wasn't willing to answer. Questions like, how do you know about Earth? She'd been looking for a real Earthling too long to scare away the first pair she found.
She wondered what their original forms were, both here and on Earth. She found it somewhat ironic that they must have been transformed twice in the last few days, for her nature magic showed her they were under the influence of a transformation spring. It wasn't worth bringing that up though, for if things went well they'd reach the library long before it wore off. Besides, a dragonkin would be helpful.
For now, their goals aligned. Jen and Karyn, or whoever they were, clearly wanted a way to Earth, and Sylvia knew for a fact that the library held one. The only complication was that only an Earth native could complete the ritual and open the portal. Now that Sylvia had finally found two such natives, she could make the journey with them, and make contact with Earth's forests...
