Officer Danielle Chase heard her phone ringing, so she put down her paperwork and reached across her desk to answer the phone.
"I'd like to report," the distraught woman on the other end said. "Well ... where do I start ..."
"Ma'am, take a deep breath. First, tell me your name, then tell me what happened," Danielle said.
"My name is Lorraine Meadows, and ... my son is missing."
"When did you last see him?"
"Wait, that's not all. I found a baby in his bedroom."
Danielle paused, then asked "A baby in your son's bedroom?"
"Yes, that's right," Lorraine said. "I'm sorry if I sound worried, but ..."
"No need to apologize. Now, tell me the name of your son and the last time you saw him."
She told the officer everything she knew, after which Danielle said that the police would send over a squad car to her house shortly to help look for her son ... and to determine the identification of the baby.
