Jon finished shopping and then drove home to put the groceries away. Once he had finished he checked the time and realised that it was time to pick up Mikey.
Checking his makeup he then drove to the school where he waited by the gates for Mikey. As he waited someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Jon?" He turned around and smiled as he saw who it was.
"Rebecca! How nice to see you." He said and they hugged and kissed each other.
"Are you here to pick up Alex?" Jon asked. Rebecca nodded.
"Yes, it's his first day of school and I promised that I'd be here to pick him up." She explained.
"Was he nervous?" Jon asked.
"I think he was a little bit." Rebecca replied. "But he was also excited so I hope he was able to settle in and make some friends."
"Oh Alex is a sweet boy." Jon said smiling. "I'm sure he'll make lots of friends soon."
Rebecca nodded. "Thank you Jon. I hope so too." Rebecca decided to change the subject.
"So how was your day?" She asked him. "You seem happy."
Jon nodded. "Yes, well the thing is." He paused for a moment. "I met someone today." Jon couldn't help but smile when he thought of Lucy.
Rebecca was intrigued. "Oh? Do tell." She gushed and Jon proceeded to tell her all about Lucy.
"Oh she sounds wonderful." Rebecca said once Jon had finished. She his her smile as she was pleased with Jon's progress
Jon nodded and sighed happily. Suddenly there was movement from the school as all the kids started to exit the school.
Jon smiled as he spotted his son Mikey coming out. He nudge Rebecca and pointed over to him.
"I don't think that you have to worry about Alex making any friends." He said.
Alex and Mikey were walking together. Alex was giggling at something that Mikey had said.
"Oh don't they look adorable together?" Rebecca commented as they got closer. Jon nodded in agreement.
"Hi sweetie!" Jon greeted Mikey as he gave him a big hug.
"How was your day? I see that you've made a new friend."
