Linda takes in the words that Miss Fine said and realizes that the counselor was right. "What's happening to me?"she asks herself silently.
Miss Fine reached across her desk and lightly tapped Linda's wrist. "Its okay sweetie the teen years can be a tough time." Miss Fine's touch seemed to awaken Linda as if she was in a dream. The next thing Linda knew was that Miss Fine was absolutely correct. It was so silly to doubt her own age., "Yes I guess you are right again ma'am. Its not easy been a teenager these days" Then Linda stood up a bit shakily and braced herself a bit on Miss Fine's desk. Then she realized she would be late for her next class. She expressed to Miss Fine that she needed to get to her Algebra 1 class.
"Yes sir, you definately should run along because Mr. Jackson is a stickler for being punctual and you are going to be late for his class" Miss Fine stated and with that Linda let herself out of the counselor's office. Not once did Linda think it was strange that people were calling her sir and mister.
As Linda walked down the school hallway she could not believe how silly she was acting a little while ago. It was so crazy that she ever thought she was middle aged. Like, how could I be 45 years old. Look how I am dressed and the "I don't care look" I always have on my face. I mean come on Linda get it together.
All these thoughts raced through Linda's mind as she headed to Jon's class which she thought she attended.
When she got to the door of her new class she tried as steathily as she could to enter without being noticed. "Ah..Mr.Gibson so nice of you to join us." Mr. Jackson bellowed to her "I hope you have agood excuse for being late."
"Um..er I was visiting the counselor sir.' Linda meekly responded as she headed to her seat. No one i the class thought it was strange that a 45 year old woman was taking an Algebra 1 class.
