Jon entered the cafeteria at lunch and he spotted Karyn waving him over. He grabbed his lunch and then sat down opposite her.
"Hey," Karyn said greeting him. Jon replied in a similar matter.
"I haven't seen you all morning." She said. Jon nodded.
"I know we must have missed each other at the gates."
"So how's your day been so far?" Karyn asked.
"Not too bad," Jon replied. "I had a meeting with Miss Fine." He explained.
"Who's Miss Fine?" Karyn asked.
"She's the new guidance counselor," Jon explained. "She came over to my house last night and then wanted to see me this morning."
"Ok," Karyn replied thinking nothing unusual about that. "Want to hang out after school?" She asked. Jon shook his head.
"Sorry Karyn. I can't I've got loads of chores to do and then I'm cooking tonight." He explained.
Now that was unusual. Since when did Jon have chores? and since when did he cook?
"Since when do you have chores?" Karyn asked out loud.
"Well, Rebecca made me realize how lazy I've been and that I should help mom around the house more."
"I guess that makes sense," Karyn said. "Who's Rebecca?"
"Miss Fine," Jon explained as if it was obvious.
