"Sabrina, you okay? You're a lot quieter than usual," Gena said.
"Huh?" the pink-haired punk Goth girl uttered, as if being woken up. "Oh, I'm just thinking about my mother."
"What about her?" Sarah asked.
"I ... I think I better get back to class. I don't want to worry her. You know how she can get if I upset her."
"Yeah, she can be a stone cold bitch sometimes. I know because my mom is the same way," Sarah said.
Sabrina seemed to flinch at the word "bitch", then withdrew a bit from her friends. She wasn't sure why, but she was feeling rather ... timid? That wasn't like her ... or was it?
"Are you alright? I mean, really? Because you're acting ..." Gena began, but instead of answering, her friend took a few steps back and then turned and ran back into the school.
"What the fuck is her problem?" Sarah asked.
"I don't know. But I think it might have something to do with whatever the fuck is happening," Gena said.
"No duh. I'm just glad that you and me aren't acting weird," Sarah said. "At least, I don't think we are." Little did she know, she was acting weird, compared to who she originally was. Sarah McMillan was no longer the hottest girl in school, head of the cheerleaders, dating a jock, and having long blonde hair, a perfect tan, and cute but sexy taste in clothing. No, Sarah was overlooked by most boys, especially ones from the popular crowd. She didn't want anything to do with the cheerleaders, she wasn't interested in muscle-bound morons as dating material, and she had a completely different taste in fashion and appearance -- now having very short spiky artificial red-dyed hair, pale skin, and attire consisting of a silver-colored vinyl halter top, a black vinyl miniskirt, and a pair of knee-high black 6-inch stiletto boots, with silver-colored fishnets covering her legs. Sure, she had an attractive feminine figure, especially her boobs, but the rest of her ... it freaked out a lot of boys. Frankly, people treated her like she was some kind of weirdo. But not people in the Goth crowd. They were her friends. They understood her. Especially her best friend Gena.
