Meanwhile, back at the high school, Jon was getting the stuff from his locker for his first class of the day, when he suddenly encountered Zoe. It was so strange seeing her dressed so prudishly. It was a far cry from the Goth outfits she normally wore.
Zoe did a double-take in his direction, and just for a moment there seemed to be a sign of recognition, but then it was gone. And it was like they were strangers again.
Jon realized that even though Zoe was made to believe that she was someone else, there must have been something of the old Zoe still within her. Some part of her still remembered that she and Jon were siblings. So maybe whatever the workmen were doing was reversible.
