Sarah leaned back away from Jon and gave him an odd look. "Why would you want that bitch here with us?"

"What are you talking about, Jon? She's the biggest bitch in school. And the rest of the cheerleaders are almost as bad. Gladys Brewer, Kyla Leeson, Athena DeVries, Margaret Wood, Nadine Ferguson, and all the rest of them. They all think they're so special, being all good-looking and stuff. Well ..."
Jon wasn't listening to the rest of Sarah's babbling. He was too focused on those names that she listed off. They were all considered "outcasts" as far as the popular crowd was concerned. Karyn was usually considered a tomboy, Gladys was a fat unattractive girl, Kyla was a thin nerdy girl, Athena was a "witch-like" Goth girl, Margaret was a hippie, and Nadine was an uptight and prudish Baptist girl. And Sarah thought that they were cheerleaders? They weren't even the cheerleader type.
He worried that Sarah's memories may not have been altered. Maybe reality was just as Sarah described. He had a wishing stone that could easily create a reality just like that. But he didn't wish for ...
Jon paused, remembering that vague wish he made for something interesting to happen. Maybe that's what his wish did. Maybe he inadvertently created a new reality where Karyn and a bunch of unpopular girls were now the elite members of the popular crowd. If that was so, what else was different?
