"Jon, calm down ..." Sarah started.
"No, I will not calm down!" Jon yelled. "Something weird is happening and I need to find out what! I ... I ... I need to go home and get the stone and ..."
"Stone? Jon, what the hell are you talking about?" she asked.
Suddenly, Jon had no idea. A moment ago, he was determined to go home and get something extremely important. But a stone? Why would a stone be important? He felt like he should know. But the moment that Sarah mentioned it, it suddenly disappeared from his mind.
"Maybe you should go home. I'll go call your house and tell Zoe that I found you. She'll be glad to know that you're okay. After you disappeared last night, your sister was really worried about you."
"So Zoe is the same?" Jon asked.
Sarah blinked. "Zoe? Who's Zoe?"
"My sister! You were just talking about her!"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Jon. I wasn't talking about Zoe. I was talking about Nadine. And you don't have a sister."
"Nadine?" What the hell was going on here? It was like reality was continuing to change all around him. First Sarah was talking about Zoe, like they were all friends, then suddenly she had no idea who Zoe was, and instead thought that she had been talking about Nadine. Could she mean Nadine Ferguson? That uptight Baptist girl from school? Why would she be at the Spiked Pit? Jon suddenly had a feeling that Nadine was different too. Maybe she was a Goth now like Jon and Sarah.
"Come on, Jon. I'll take you home," Sarah said, grabbing Jon's arm and pulling him with her.
