As Leonard sat back, dialing the phone, Kamiko became increasingly disturbed, saying "How did I get here? I don't even know where I am."
Leonard stopped dialing and looked at her. "A moment ago you said this was your house."
"I did?" Kamiko asked. She thought back to a minute ago, but her memory was fuzzy. Why couldn't she remember? "Listen," she said, standing up. "I've got to go. Thanks for trying to help me, but ... I've got somewhere where I need to be right now." Although, really, she had no idea where. Just that it was really important.
"Are you sure? I know someone at the community center downtown that ..."
"I'm okay, really. Sorry I broke into your house," she said, then went out the door.
Leonard was puzzled, but at least it seemed that the woman wasn't confused anymore, or at least less confused than before.
But Leonard still had a problem - where was his husband?
He stood up, not noticing that his hair had grown longer or that he had lost over twenty-five pounds. Leonard was a fairly fat boy. Losing that much weight should have grabbed his attention, but for some reason, he didn't notice.
