Jenny continued reading the story, but halfway through, she paused and grabbed her head, feeling a headache coming on. She looked over at the reddish-looking rock and suddenly felt a connection to it in some way, like it was more than just some rock she found. She picked it up and looked at it.
"Are you okay, Miss Jenny?" Stephie asked.
"I ... don't ..." Jenny blinked and dropped the stone to the floor. "What did you call me?" she asked. She looked down at herself and stared with wide eyes. She was a woman! Jenny reached up and grabbed at her own breasts, proving that this was real and not a dream. And then memories from that day poured into her head. Memories of slowly becoming Jenny, sister of Sierra Melina, a woman who used to be Sarah McMillan.
But how had this happened? Jenny looked around at the room she was in and knew that she was supposed to be a librarian. There were two kids there that she knew she was supposed to know, but couldn't remember who they were ... and then there was Walter Smukmeyer, a nerd she knew from school. But Walter wasn't exactly himself at the moment, both physically and mentally.
Jenny grabbed her head again, feeling another headache. She blinked. What was she thinking about? She shook her head.
"Are you sure?" Stephie asked.
"Sure about what?" Jenny asked back. She looked down and saw that she was halfway through the story. Why had she stopped? Her memory was a blur. She knew that she should know something ... something important ... but for some reason, she just couldn't grasp the thought. It totally eluded her.
She shrugged, then continued the story. As she did, she wondered where that reddish rock went to. She had forgotten that she accidentally dropped it. The stone had fallen to the floor, then rolled under a nearby bookshelf.
