No one really knows exactly how they came to be, and no one really seems to ever think about or question their existence. It was almost like someone wished them into existence with a clause no one would question it, but over the past few years a new form of technology was released known as the immersion pass. These passes were basically contracts that once registered to a person were able to transform them physically as well as mentally to varying degrees. At first it started out as something strictly used by the government and the legal system, but eventually they started to open up Immersion Centers that could sell licenses for organizations and individuals to have some access to the technology. First it was expensive and only expanded into corporations. Eventually the price came down and they started making deals with small businesses, doctors offices, education faculties, travel industries, therapies, and in some rare situations even for personal use(though those were much more expensive for insurance reasons).
Types of Passes
Legal:
Court ordered immersion passes are usually used as a legal penalty with set durations and settings decided by a judge or an official.
Military:
Though it's never been publicly confirmed its highly suspected immersion passes are used for military and espionage uses.
Profession:
It's becoming more and more common for businesses to include in their terms that immersion passes may be used or required at the their digressions. They have also seen use in solving HR related issues.
Medical:
It's a bit rare but in certain cases immersion passes may be required or recommended for medial reasons.
Therapy:
It's becoming more and more common to see new therapies and counseling that incorporates immersion passes into it's programming.
Education:
Colleges and even some high schools have started offering various classes or programs that make use of immersion passes. In some places they have also been used to discipline students.
Recreationally:
immersion passes have revitalized the dead industry of traveling agencies now promising to offer a much more "immersive" experience.
Personal:
It is very rare and expensive to get an personal immersion pass, but they do exist.
Illegal/Counterfeit:
Recently with the internet being what it is. it's become harder and harder for the government to stop the use of illegal or counterfeit immersion passes found online. They have no over sight on those kind of passes so some times people lie about their effects or they just don't work perfectly. While other times they are exactly what they are meant to be. These are more of a gamble then anything else.

Types of Features
All physicals and mental changes can be completely custom or an exact copy of someone else if that is what is requested.
Transformation:
People are able to be transformed into anyone imaginable. Any age, size, gender, fitness level, etc.
Duration:
Passes can be set to have a set duration or set to be deactivated manually at an immersion center. They can also be set to permanent. Permeant passes can technically be removed at an immersion center, but its rare and a bureaucratic nightmare.
Mannerisms:
Passes are able to enforce a new set of mannerisms for a person's body from how they move to all of their speech habits.
Preferences:
People's taste can be changed by a pass. Their taste in food, clothes, hobbies, attractions, etc. Really anything.
Knowledge:
In some cases people may have knowledge removed or included while under the effect of a pass.
Awareness:
This setting is a bit extreme and has a few variants, but in some cases the person under the effect of a pass may not be aware they are under the effect of a pass. In other cases they might be but others might always remember them as such. There is also a mental awareness settings that can work with any previous mentioned settings.
Auto-Pilot:
This setting some times comes included with some of the previous settings to help make them work. Can range from minor things like applying make up or cooking perfectly for a time to much more extreme things where a person is just a passenger in their own body.
Misc:
No one really understands all the limits of passes, so there could be other things that don't fit into any of the previous listed categories. In some illegal cases there have been been rumors of things going as far as memory altering or forced obedience.
