They sat and chatted for a bit more with Grace telling them about herself, she had been at the cheerleading tryouts and was hoping to get on the team.
“Ooh, speaking of…” Grace said excitedly. “Have you seen the squad selection? I heard that they were making the announcement today.”
Jonchelle shook her head. Of course, they secretly knew that they would make the cut and had no need to actually check, but Grace didn’t know that.
She looked surprised. “Really? You haven’t looked. I’d thought that you’d be rushing off to see it the moment it was pinned up!”
Jonchelle and Vanessa looked at each other, grinning. “Well I guess that we’ve, uh, been busy…”
Grace raised an arched eyebrow but then grabbed Vanessa’s hand. “Come on then! Let’s go and see if you made the squad.” Before either Jonchelle or Vanessa could say anything, Grace was dragging Vanessa out of the cafeteria and towards the gym.
