It wasn't until she was in the hallway approaching Amber and Nadine that Zelda finally realized that Sarah was still there. She was about to turn to her and demand to know why the cheerleader girl was following her. But then she saw a look of confusion on Sarah's face. It reminded Zelda of the confusion she felt a few minutes ago when Sarah told her that they were best friends.
But that was right, wasn't it? They were best friends.
Stop it! Zelda yelled in her head. I'm not friends with that bitch!
But she was, wasn't she? And Sarah wasn't a bitch. She was just used to getting her way, that's all. Kind of like Zelda herself.
No! Zelda yelled in her mind. I'm not like that! I'm not like Sarah!
"Hey, girls," Nadine said, meeting them in the hall. At first, both she and Amber were smiling, but then their smiles turned into looks of concern. "Like, are you two okay?" Nadine asked.
Sarah looked confused and Zelda looked angry.
