Melissa Wilson fished out her car keys out of her purse and opened the car and got inside. Then she was off, driving downtown to the local branch of McMillan Tech Industries (the CEO of the corporation was Richard McMillan, father of Sarah McMillan). She was one of the top saleswomen in company and even had a corner office. But she still had a long way to go before joining the elite of the company.
After parking, she headed in and almost bumped into Maria Sanchez, one of the janitors. Like most of the janitors, she didn't know Maria well, but she had seen them often enough. From what she could figure out, Maria was a recent immigrant from Mexico, so that's why she still couldn't quite grasp the English language. But how much English would you need to know to accomplish her job?
"Lo siento, señora Wilson," Maria said timidly, with her thick accent.
Melissa shrugged it off and kept on walking, but suddenly she stopped and turned around. The woman she almost bumped into wasn't a janitor. She was the head boss for this branch of the company! Why did Melissa ever think that Miss Sanchez was a lowly employee such as a janitor? She didn't even look like a janitor, all dressed up in her power suit and fashionable shoes.
"I'm sorry, Miss Sanchez. I ... I didn't know it was you," Melissa said.
Her "boss" just looked at her with a very puzzled expression on her face. Maria didn't understand what was happening. How did her clothes change like that? And why was Mrs. Wilson treating her so well all of a sudden?
