"Well, it's a theme camp, " started Rachel as she pulled onto Family Way to go into the camp.
"What's the theme?" asked Michelle
"I think it would be more fun if you guess after I give you a hint. What's your first guess?"
"Is it space camp?"
"I don't think I could stand that spinning thing you see in the movies. But you may feel nauseated while you are here."
Michelle thought for a bit, "Are we going to a horror-movie themed camp?"
"No. I think your brother may like that. Your next hint is we will be doing something together."
"...Flight camp?"
"What is it with you a going places? Take a look around the parking lot, maybe that'll give you a hint, "said his mom pulling into a spot. Michelle looked around and saw no guys, only women and girls of varying ages. Some of the girls were crying. One just looked shocked. What could make girls from 15-20something look so miserable?
"I'll tell you if you guess one more time, " announced Rachel turning off the car. She looked at Michelle, very excited about what kind of camp it is.
"Is it a camp where you have to give up your phone to pretend to be Amish or something?"
"Nope. You can keep your phone, in fact they like it went their campers post on social media. It's a pregancy camp! We are going to go through pregnancy together, as mother and daughter. It's the ultimate bonding experience."
"What? Is that a real thing? You have to be messing with me,"
"Yep, apparently they figured out how to get you all the way through without actually having a baby. I don't know how it works, but it is supposed to be just like it. I'll make sure to let you know, " winked her mom.
"I'm not getting out of the car. Zoe probably got a trip that was normal, like camping."
"I am sworn to secrecy, but it wasn't something normal like camping."
Michelle thought about when Zoe came back from the trip. She went straight to her room after she got back from "Montreal." When Mikey asked her what happened, she said she didn't want to talk about it. It was a little weird for a supposedly normal trip.
Michelle heard the car door close and her mom opened the trunk. Maybe if she became Mikey, the trip would change? The necklace was in her bag in the trunk. To get the necklace, she would have to leave the car, which her mom wouldn't let her back into. There was a knock at the window.
"I'm going inside with our stuff. See you in the main cabin."
Michelle just glared at her mom as she walked away. How dare she decide to do this camp without talking to Michelle first. What girl wants to be pregnant with her mother at a camp? Why couldn't it be something cool, like a weekend in Acadia or a road trip to Cedar Point. Michelle did have a friend that was pregnant. She did sometimes think about her friend Davonne and her body changing. It was amazing to see what the human body can do. The female body can make another whole person, which was cool, but scary. While Michelle's mind was wandering from anger, to curiosity, back to anger and then to scared, she realized she had to pee. She looked around the parking lot and saw no signs for a bathroom. She could hold it for a little longer, but eventually she would have to leave the car. Folk were still pulling in and unloading, so she couldn't go just pee in the woods near the parking lot. Michelle saw that some of the girls seemed OK while they were unloading. Resigned to having to go inside to pee, and therefore likely see her mom, Michelle left the car and went into the main cabin.
