Zoe did her best to stay on the road, but it was proving more difficult than usual.
"Watch what you're doing, you fucking bitch! You're gonna get us killed!" Jon yelled out.
Zoe turned and glared at him.
"Stop the car!!" he yelled out suddenly, and Zoe hit the brakes.
She turned her attention back to the road and saw a little boy with wide eyes, holding a ball in his hands. He just stood there, frozen in shock, then after a moment, he ran away.
"I ... I don't understand what's wrong," Zoe said. "I've driven hundreds of times."
"Are you sure about that?" Jon asked.
"Well, of course I'm sure. I mean, I think I am," she said. But suddenly Jon's question started to sink in. Had she actually driven before? The last few minutes would indicate that she hadn't. But she felt like she had.
She looked around the car. It felt right to be in the driver's seat, but now that she stopped and thought about it, she couldn't remember ever being behind the wheel of a car.
Zoe looked down at herself and then over at Jon. She had no idea how she could have forgotten, but now it was glaringly obvious. Both Zoe and Jon had changed places. He was wearing Zoe's clothes and acting like Zoe. And she was wearing Jon's clothes and acting like Jon.
"Do you remember this morning when you told me I was sleeping in your room and we switched beds?" Zoe asked.
Jon blinked, as realization suddenly entered his face. "Oh god, Zoe. How could I forget?" He looked down at himself with wide eyes. "I'm ... I'm wearing your clothes."
"And my make-up," she added.
"What are we going to do?" Jon asked. "I don't want to be you."
"And I don't want to be you," Zoe said.
They paused for a time, then Jon spoke up. "Let's just get to school first, then we can figure this out."
"You wanna drive?" Zoe asked.
"If what's going on is what I think is going on, then I can't. You're the one with the license."
"But I can't drive," she said.
"Then just take it slow. The school is only two streets up the road."
Zoe took her foot off the brake and then began to slowly drive towards the school.
