Jon figured that if the wishing stone wasn't in the motel room, then it still must have been in his bedroom, where he left it when he went to sleep the previous night. But he was wrong.
Because at the very moment he was having that thought, Mindy (the prostitute who had sex with him) was rifling through her purse and pulling out the stone that was hidden inside. She smiled at it, thinking that she could pawn it off.
