"Commander T'kkrt," replied the alien "She's our ship's First Officer."
"First Officer?" replied Jon "You mean like Riker on TNG?" There was a beat and before the alien could reply Jon stuttered "W-wait, did you say SHE?"
The alien bobbed its body "Yes. She's a highly decorated officer you should be honoured to have switched with her."
"But I'm a guy!" gasped Jon.
"You're male?" replied the alien, body twitching as if to cock its head, "But our scans indicated you were of the larger body form."
"Umm, yeah," replied Jon "Guys on average are bigger than girls."
"Oh dear," replied the alien, quivering, "I hate to break this to you but that's not the case for us." It turned and indicated a much smaller alien next to it that Jon had overlooked. "Lieutenant K'ttrng here is the male of our spiecies and an exceptionally large one at that."
