Mary left her house. She needed to get out of there. It felt too stifling. She needed some air, some silence to think.
She walked down the walkway leading to the street, then turned and kept going. She didn't exactly have a destination in mind. She just needed to walk, to clear her head. She did that quite a lot, when she was overwhelmed by life.
But this time, she wasn't just heading in no particular direction. Subconsciously, she was headed towards the "coven cabin". She had absolutely no desire to set foot in such an evil place, yet that's where her feet were taking her. She felt an urge, a longing, to go there. It was like she belonged there. But, of course, she had no idea where the cabin was or that it was invisible. She only knew that she had to go there. That it was important.
She stopped suddenly, stomping her foot in frustration. "What am I doing?" she asked herself. This urge to go to ... somewhere (she didn't know she was headed to a witch's hideout, just somewhere she didn't want to go) ... it was like the feeling she had when she was searching her house for those tarot cards. She was losing herself. She tried to keep her mind focused, but it kept drifting to other things. Evil things. What was happening to her? Why did her thoughts keep drifting to ideas like witches and covens and spells and tarot cards? She knew that the person she switched with was into those sorts of things, but Mary wasn't that person. She only looked like her, from everyone else's perspective. She grabbed her head, trying to force her thoughts to stay focused on good and decent things, but it was no use. The more time that passed, the more she felt like the things she deemed evil ... weren't.
During her mental struggle there on the street corner, she heard two people talking. She looked up and saw a little girl and a tattooed man. And then, in the blink of an eye, she saw a teenage girl and a different man. What Mary didn't know was that she was becoming more and more like Rachel (a side-effect of the glamour phenomenon) and that included Rachel's ability to see past glamours. She was seeing Karyn and George the way they actually were, wearing their counterparts' clothing.
Wondering how this was possible, Mary decided to follow them. She didn't know that she was the reason that she could see them that way. She thought that they had something to do with it. Maybe they were even witches like herself.
Her mind didn't even register that thought, as she followed them.
