Agent Steven Kendall and Dr. Morris Bertman (the lab tech guy) walked towards the Pussy Kat Klub, bringing with them a new device to help them find Jane Madison, her son, or anyone else they needed to find.
After entering the building, Morris opened the small metal case he was holding and brought out a headset that looked like a pair of modified night goggles. "You realize we haven't had a chance to test these out. You didn't give me a lot of time to ..."
"We're testing them out now. Now give them to me," Kendall said, holding his hand out.
Morris was hesitant, but gave Kendall the goggles anyway. "I suggest that you don't use them for too long."
"Noted," Kendall said, then he put them on and activated them.
Through the goggles, the entire room was bathed in a greenish blue light. When they came in, Kendall saw a very attractive young woman pole dancing up on stage and a highly varied group of people watching her (there were men, women, and even children). But now, with the goggles on, Kendall saw who was really there. In the world of mysticism, this was called "looking past a glamour". But what certain people could do naturally, Kendall was able to do with technology, even if it was limited.
"Sweet mother," Kendall uttered, looking up at the stage at the overweight girl swinging around the metal pole, her fatty skin wobbling and jiggling as she moved. He had to look away.
"Something wrong?" Morris asked.
Kendall looked back, then turned his attention to the crowd. Almost all of them were men, some dressed as women, some as children.
"She's not here," Kendall said, deactivating the goggles and taking them off.
"Maybe she's in the back," Morris pointed out.
Kendall and Morris moved through the crowd (they both took an injection for that hour, so they weren't in any danger of getting swapped) and walked into the dressing room. But no one was there.
"If she's not here, then where could she be?" Morris asked.
"Strip clubs don't usually have just one stripper. She was here, but she left."
"Where would she go?"
"I have an idea." He took out his cellphone and made a call. "This is Kendall. She's not here. Make sure you keep an eye on the house."
