Jayde White was confused. Her mommy and grampa and her brother and sister had disappeared, and she wasn't in her grampa's house anymore. Instead, she was standing in a huuuuge room with a bunch of seats in it, like a movie theater, and she was at the front of the room where the movie screen should have been. But the lights were turned on in this movie theater, and there were bunches of really old people, like people in their twenties and thirties, staring at her. Jayde looked down and saw that she was dressed in a pretty grey suit like her grampa always wore to church, and she noticed she was wearing glasses even though she didn't really need them. All the people in the theater were looking at her like they expected her to say something, but she didn't know what to say. She turned around to see what was playing on the movie screen, but instead of a screen she saw blackboards behind her, like the kind they had in school. There were all sorts of big words and funny pictures drawn all over the blackboard. Jayde had been learning to read in kindergarten, so she tried to sound out the words that were written in the biggest letters. Q-U-A-N-T-U-M P-H-Y-S-I-C-S 101. Jayde frowned; it was hopeless; those letters didn't even make sense all together like that. It must have been written in some kind of crazy language like Canadian or something...
The thumping bass and pulsing red lights hit Jane Madison hard, leaving her completely disoriented. For a moment, Jane thought she must have been having a stroke, and she cried out to her son, "Jon, help!" But her words were lost beneath the rumbling music and the hooting and shouting of several men, which drifted up to her from the other side of the flashing lights. Jane felt cold metal beneath her hands and between her legs and she gripped it tightly, realizing a moment later that it was a pole, a metal pole. Confused now about where she was and what she was doing, she lowered her eyes and looked down at her body... only to see, to her horror, that she was dressed only in a pair of scarlet panties and matching stiletto heels. Jane let go of the pole in disgust, her situation slowly beginning to take shape, though how on earth she'd gotten into this situation she hadn't a clue. She attempted to run... run away, in any direction as long as it was away from here. Instead, however, she tripped in the ridiculous stiletto heels she had strapped to her feet. She landed clumsily on her knees, where she rested for a moment to try to gather her composure. The crowning indignity, however, came a moment later, when she felt a hand emerge from the flashing lights, reach into her panties, and slip a piece of paper inside...
Alexis Darling blinked. A moment ago she had been at cheerleading practice, lifting Janelle Carter--who had seemed a little stoned all morning--up to Jane Butler's shoulders. The mid-morning sun must have struck her eyes the wrong way, though, because there had been a blinding light for a moment that had obscured the whole of her vision. And now... now, somehow, highly improbably, she found herself standing in the middle of a construction site. She cringed; she recognized this place. This was the site where they were building the new Landmark Federal Bank. She'd been past here a half a dozen times on her way to the mall, and she'd learned that the construction workers here were total pigs. She knew construction workers had a bad reputation, but the things that came out of these men's mouths... Alexis collected her wits, then began to powerwalk toward the nearest exit from the construction site. She wanted to get out of here ASAP. As she walked, though, she heard a man's voice shout, "Heads up!" and a hammer crashed to the ground not five feet away from her. She ducked and threw her hands up to protect her head... only to find a metal hardhat resting atop her curly hair. How on earth had that gotten there? Then something else sank in: she realized the reason it felt so hard to lift her feet. Rather than the light sneakers she usually wore with her cheerleading uniform, she had heavy steel-toed boots on her feet. And what was that gust of breeze that was blowing over her chest, and that warm feeling of sunlight on her back? Alexis looked down in horror and saw that she was topless. Completely topless, her girls in plain view of the world. She wasn't even wearing a bra. All she had on was a pair of grungy jeans. Alexis blushed a deep shade of red and braced herself for the hoots of the construction workers to begin. But they never came...
