As they walked through their allocated door, the first thing they noticed was the large white mini-bus, followed by Sarah McMillan and her mother Susan, who were both stood looking rather impatient. One of the men in boiler suits was stood by the driver's door, checking off a list.
"Jon?" another voice asked from behind them. He turned and saw both his mother and Mikey walking towards the bus.
"House 38, all occupants here" The man in the boiler said into a small radio,
"preparing to depart" he added as he gestured for them to board.
Once all six of them were in the bus, the man started the engine, and a set of doors opened up in front of them, allowing bright sunlight to shine through. Once the driver pulled out of the small garage, they could see a large suburban town down in a valley below them, other busses were already making their way down. Jon wondered where his father and sister could be.
After ten more minutes of driving, they pulled up outside a sizeable house in a small cul de sac, the mail box outside displayed the number 38 . As they stepped off the bus, the driver handed them all a key for the front door, and then led them up the path. He opened the front door and stepped into the hallway.
"Take a seat in the living room, your next instructions will be delivered in just a moment" He said before heading back to his bus. They did as instructed, and it wasn't long before the large TV hanging on the wall above an ornate fireplace flickered to life. The screen displayed a picture of each of them, along with their names. Suddenly their last names all faded away and were replaced with the name Jefferson. Jon looked at the others in puzzlement then back at the screen which now displayed a bar above their names along with the words
"upload in progress".
As the bars began to fill, the man from earlier began to speak.
"Good morning Jefferson family, in just a few moments your new roles will be uploaded to your watches, and then administered via a dose of tiny nano-bots. To make things easier the bots will take you to your specific rooms and to help you prepare yourselves for the first time, after that It should take a week for you to fully assimilate, so we do ask that in the mean time you do try and act your parts."
The bars had completely filled now, and each of them felt a short jab in their wrists. Their eyes glazed over and they all stood up and headed to their rooms to change.
