Jen sighed softly as Jon and his Aunt left the building to talk. This had the unfortunate side-effect of leaving him alone with Jon's parents.
"Ahem, I'll be leaving now. I've got other duties to attend to." The irritating Sow-man stated as he made for the door.
"Why don't you tell us about yourself dear." Jon's mother started, "We'd like to get to know our son's err Daughter's significant other."
It was clear that the awkwardness of the situation was affecting them just as much. 'God, what do I even say in this situation', 'I'm sorry I fucked your son and got him stuck as a cow'. Yeah Jen REALLY didn't see that one going over well. " Well my name is Jennifer Harper, I'm 23 years old and am ugh was going to school to be a veterinarian" He paused he hadn't even considered what he was going to do with his life after this. Or worse how his own parents would react. He had jumped at the chance to intern here for the summer. 'Oh working at a private nature preserve would look great on my application to Vet. School' Yeah that Really worked out great for me. He thought sardonically to himself. As he lapsed briefly into self-loathing, he glanced at Jon's parents and could see this wasn't any easier for them either. "I'm sorry," He began, "I've not only ruined my life but Jon's as well." The worst of it was, in spite all of all of this he had somehow developed feelings for the cowtaur. He cared for her in a way he'd never had with any of his past relationships. It figured that it'd take switching genders and species for him to find love. His internal rant was interrupted as Jon's mother had encircled her arms around his torso.
"Oh honey, I know this is a trying time, for all of us. But we'll get through this somehow. I can see that you care deeply for Jon, and she's head over heels for you (whether she knows it or not). This certainly isn't the end of the world."
"Mrs.-" uh I don't think I even know her last name, or Jon's, wow this was awkward.
"It's Smith dear, Linda Smith, but you can call me mom from now on" She added coyly showing that she certainly was Carol's sister. " Oh and this is Jack, but you can call him dad."
Jon's father nodded to him curtly, it was easy to see that he was affected by this mess as well despite his stoic nature.
"Mrs. Smi-"
"Mom" Jon's mother insisted
"Uh mom, dad, I swear to you I'll care for Jon as best as I'm able. Despite the circumstances, I genuinely love your daughter"
It wasn't long before he was pulled into another embrace by Jon's cervine mother and offered a firm handshake (paw shake?) by Jon's currently canid father
