As they emerged from the cabin, the spider sisters looked up at the darkened sky. When they had arrived at the campground, it had already been late evening. Yet, neither of them felt tired in the least. Maybe the transformation process restarted our internal clocks, Jon guessed. Or maybe we're nocturnal?

"Well, squirt, let's see what we can find out about this place."

For a while, the two wandered around near the campground structures, but found nothing overtly interesting or informative. The place seemed oddly sparse with few facilities beyond the transformation area and a large lot filled with picnic tables without benches. The eating area, probably.

After twenty minutes of wandering, Jon and Mikey had headed off into the woods and immediately began experimenting with their new bodies. They found they could get around quite well without a whole lot of light despite having only average eyesight for humans. Courtesy of a series of hairs located in different parts of their bodies and legs, they could sense objects through subtle air movements and vibrations. To their delight, they could also move surprisingly fast on eight legs, faster than they ever could on two.

And that was only on the ground.

Like regular spiders, they could climb up the sides of boulders easily. Tree trunks proved a bit trickier. However, they somehow managed. Once up in the treetops, they proceeded to try out their spinnerets. It felt weird producing long ropes of silk from their backsides, but the substance was unbelievably soft and durable, stronger than steel and more elastic than a bungee cord.

Jon found herself hooked. With only a bit of webbing, she could created almost anything, bridges, ladders, hammocks, and more. She could ascend and descend from overhead, both upright and upside down. Best of all, she would never have to worry about falling when she had her own built-in safety line.

By the time the sky began to lighten, the spider sisters figured it was time to return. They had grown a lot more comfortable with their new anatomy, and they actually looked forward to seeing what the rest of this trip would be like.

Reentering their cabin, they spotted their parents coiled together in the corner. "Dad" waved in greeting. "Hey, you two. Have fun?"

"Mom! Dad!" Mikey skittered up to them, almost bouncing in her excitement. "You've gotta see what me and Jon can do! We can climb trees, and make webs, and-"

"Slow down there, squirt. Maybe we can tell them tomorrow." Jon gently pulled her sister back, chuckling. Then she noticed an absence in the room. "Where's Zoe?"

Her mother shook her head. "She's still out somewhere. But I'm sure she'll be back soon."

Jon nodded. She knew that Zoe was very independent. Even at home, she would often go out on her own, provided she left updates on her whereabouts. Thankfully, despite her rebellious streak, she had a good sensible head on her shoulders, and so far, she had stayed out of trouble.

Suddenly, Jon was brought back to the present by a yawn. "Y'know, I think I'd better get some sleep. Whatever energy boost I got from this trip is wearing out."

"I agree," Said Dad. "We'd all better rest. Tomorrow's pretty much here."

So, the entire family settled down to sleep. Jon and Mikey made sleeping nests in the corner, much to their parents' admiration, while Mom and Dad curled back up in the corner together.

Relaxed in her makeshift bed, Jon smiled. Her accidental wish had really turned out in the best way possible. She looked forward to laughing about the experience with Karyn when she got back home. With this thought, she let her eyes drift closed.
