Jon and Pete walked down to the lake. It was as isolated as Pete had said, and had a number of hammocks and picnic tables scattered about. The only other people there were a teenaged boy and girl asleep in one of the hammocks. Jon and Pete sat down at one of the tables so that they could look out at the lake. Jon tried to control his erection. He had never applied the term beautiful to a man before, but Pete certainly qualified. He would have been more embaressed if Pete had not had an erection as well.
They were both quiet for a while. ThenPete started talking. "You know Jon. I really like you. Not just as a friend, but, you know, romantically. I've never really hid that I was bi, and I've always been comfortable hitting on guys, but I've never had the courage to get involved with the one person I was really attracted to." Pete paused, looked Jon in the eyes, and said, "You."
"You're attracted to me?" asked Jon. Could it be that Pete felt the same way about me as I do about him? Jon thought. Pete shyly nodded. Jon slid closer and put Pete's hand in his. "I feel the same way about you. You're probably the only guy I've ever been attracted to, but I've always thought you were the most wonderful, beautful man I've ever met. I don't know if you're interested, but if I ever had a boyfriend, I'd like him to be you."
"You do?" asked Pete. "But that's wonderful. I'd love to be your boyfriend. How long have you felt this way?"
"Since we were little," said Jon. "I never would have known what homosexuality was, but I knew that you were special; someone who I wanted to be with for the rest of my life."
"Really?" asked Pete. "Me too." With that, Pete leaned over and kissed Jon. It was the most beautiful thing Jon had ever expereinced, as two people who had loved each other their whole lives discovered the other's love for the first time.
