The sound of heavy metal on the march reached Eric’s ears as they headed north, and Eric waved them to keep marching forward. If the force of dwarfs discovered them hiding in the woods they would likely be treated as enemies and chased down and slain by the legendary crossbows of the dwarfs, so they walked towards the arrival of the procession of dwarf steel to show they weren’t afraid.

Eric saw this was a war group with a target in mind to smash because they were making no attempt to hide their activities. The group of dwarfs came over the rise carrying the banner of King Anvilheart which surprised him because the kingdom was far from here in the frozen mountains, and sending a large armed force like this into the kingdom of Dar could be considered an act of war. Prince Alex looked shocked and ready to say something but Eric waved for him to keep quiet. Confronting them wasn’t likely a good idea.

“They aren’t carrying a flag of peace,” Prince Alex complained and the others nodded into agreement. “We need to confront them and find out what their business in the kingdom is.”

“We can’t risk it right now,” Eric responded. “They have over a hundred people with them all heavily armed for battle.”

“If we don’t talk to them at this time we may lose our chance. I know you are afraid, but we must be brave and confront this danger.”

Eric bristled at the comment on her courage, “It isn’t being afraid it is not taking a stupid risk for no good reason. If we get a force from the outpost we may be able to meet them on far more even grounds. They are traveling on foot and making no attempt to hide their trail, if we want to catch up to them it would be easy.”
