Derek slowly opened his eyes and saw one of the guys rubbing his hand and arm. It was Tom Welles.
"What the hell, man. Why'd you stop?" Danny asked Tom.
"I don't know," he answered, still rubbing his arm. "When I punched him, it felt like something stung me."
"Hey, have you been losing weight?" Nick asked.
"Huh?" Tom asked. He looked down at his arm and saw that it was less muscular than a moment ago. Then, as he watched, his arm lost its muscular look entirely, leaving him with the type of arms he had when he was a kid - pale and scrawny. "What the hell?"
The other three guys took a few steps back and stared at him.
Tom looked up at them and was about to ask why they were acting like that, but when he did, his long straight hair fell across his eyes. Wait a minute. Tom didn't have long hair. He swept the hair aside, but found that it was becoming increasingly longer and denser, until it completely hid his face. He parted the strands of hair and looked down at his now-thin body, devoid of any evidence that he was a weightlifting jock. His clothes now sagged over his new body.
"What the hell is happening to me?!" he yelled in horror.
When Derek looked up at him, a small smile crept into his face. He didn't know how it was possible, but Tom Welles was now an emo.
