Tiffany headed to her locker, occasionally scratching her arms, but not really paying it much thought. On her way, she spotted a couple of guys getting into an argument. Normally, she'd just roll her eyes, thinking that boys were so stupid, and just keep on walking. But now, for some reason, she found the argument interesting. The two boys were heated and it seemed that any moment now fists might be flying.
"Man, I'd love to be part of that fight," Tiffany muttered to herself. It didn't matter which side she took, she just wanted to fight.
She blinked suddenly. What was she thinking? She scratched her arms again. Girls like her didn't get into fights. She wasn't some kind of tomboy or something. But she couldn't help feeling that way regardless.
Unknown to her, the disease that she had caught (cooties) was making her act more and more like a tomboy. The cooties disease didn't always have that specific effect on people, but it did in Tiffany's case. Generally, the disease affected people by giving them some kind of "social stigma". In this case, it was changing Tiffany into a tomboy, which would completely change her status within the school.
