You wake up in your home one morning around Orlando, Florida, to find your entire family missing. They might have decided to go somewhere without you while you were sleeping, but they couldn't have gone very far because your dad's car is still in the driveway. You repeatedly search each room to make sure no one is there. You try to call them but the phones have suddenly stopped working. It may have been some practical joke being pulled on you, but there is no way to be sure. You hesitantly step out of your house, thinking they can still come back at any minute, and towards the main highway. And then you notice that the all the streets are completely deserted, including the usually very busy highway that runs through your town. It seems that everyone in the world has disappeared except for you, so you start to explore the seemingly-abandoned town to try to figure out what's going on.
You eventually see a few signs of life, but they all take the form of disembodied pairs of bare female feet, still walking about like their bodies have become invisible, inaudible, and intangible. Either they don't know what happened or they are fine with it and pretend it never happened for the sake of maintaining whatever aspects of their normal lives they could still maintain. They never speak or wear socks or shoes, but they are all very attractive.
You return home to get your bicycle and think about what to do next.
