Jonchelle smiled as she read her schedule again while walking to her locker. There were the usual required subjects she’d had before—English, gym, government and math—but there were a couple of changes, with dance and psychology now added. According to the teacher that had handed Jonchelle her schedule, the subjects were chosen based on a personality test that each student had been sent over the weekend. Jonchelle wondered what her answers had been.
“Hey gorgeous, did you get your schedule?” Jonchelle turned around, smiling. It was Vanessa. This was the moment that she had been waiting for.
“Uh-huh, how about you?” Vanessa nodded, pulling out her own schedule. Glancing at it, Jonchelle smiled when she saw that they were indeed sharing the same classes. Vanessa, noticing, pulled her schedule back.
“Ok, what’s with the massive Joker grin?” Jonchelle pointed to her schedule and Vanessa’s eyes widened as she did a double take.
“Wa...Wait, so we have the exact same classes?” Jonchelle nodded, still beaming. “What are the chances of that? I mean, there’s no way that we could have given the exact same answers on the personality test.”
Jonchelle tried to look innocent. She wasn’t quite ready to share the stone with Vanessa just yet, but she wanted to hint that something was going on. “Oh, I may have pulled a few strings,” she explained nonchalantly.
Vanessa raised an eyebrow. “Really? How?” Winking, Jonchelle tapped her nose.
“I’ll tell you later, maybe.”
Vanessa continued to look at Jonchelle with a raised eyebrow before she relented, seeming to accept that.
“Alright then. We’d better get to class.”
Jonchelle secretly did a victory fist pump as Vanessa locked her arm around hers and they headed off towards their first class of the day, English.
