Mary sat back down on the bench, deciding to not make another scene. Honestly, she wasn't quite sure what had gotten into her earlier. Bridian had every right to make her sit outside. Her guardian had taken great strides to make Mary (a woman of only 24) into a young lady of proper breeding. For the most part, she had achieved that, but ...
Wait a minute, Mary thought. I'm 24? I thought I was older than that. She looked at the reflection of herself in the restaurant window again. The person who looked back certainly was a woman in her mid-twenties. Why did she think she was older?
Anyway, Mary was certainly a much more sophisticated young woman than she was before she met Bridian. Unfortunately, she was also a bit spoiled, which was probably the cause of her outburst in the restaurant. She liked getting things her way. But she forgot that Bridian did also. It was only appropriate to show him the highest respect while in public, which Mary failed to do.
Mary paused, feeling that there was something wrong with that. But she ended up just shrugging it off.
Meanwhile, in the restaurant, Bridian and Charles were ordering their dessert, having finished their meals.
