"Kyla? What are you doing? That's Karyn's seat," Jon said.

Kyla turned towards him and said "I know that, Jon. But I have to do everything that Karyn would do."

Jon stared at her, confused. "What?"

"By now ..." Jennifer said up on stage. "You'll notice that the five people who have been chosen now have to act like one of the other chosen. They will remain this way until the end of the school day on Friday." It was Tuesday right now. "This will give them ample time to witness life through another person's eyes, so to speak."

"That's horrible," a girl said from the audience. "You can't make people do that. It's wrong."

"What's done is done," Sarah Taylor said. "It's only for three days. Just deal with it." She turned towards her sister, then nodded. The lights in the auditorium went out again and when they came back, the Taylor Twins were gone. They probably didn't want anyone to see them leave, for fear of retaliation.

Jon turned towards Kyla. "I'm so sorry this happened to you, Kyla. If I hadn't ..." He paused. "I'll try to fix this." By now, it was obvious that his vague wish from the previous day had caused all of this. There was no other good explanation. It was obvious that magic was involved.

"Thanks, Jon. But I don't know how you could stop me from acting like Karyn. Every time I try to act like myself, I ..." She tried to do something, but then stopped and grabbed her head.

"Are you okay?" he asked, grabbing her arm in concern.

"When I try to act like myself, I get this terrible pain in my head. I think it happens so that I'll be forced to act like Karyn."

"That's terrible."

"Yeah, I agree," Kyla said. "But I'm not sure what to do about it. I'm not even sure how this happened. My only guess would be hypnotism. But we weren't up on stage long enough for that and I don't remember anyone hypnotizing me. Do you?"

"No, as far as I can remember, nothing like that happened."

There was a pause, then Kyla spoke again. "So, what would Karyn usually do now?"

"Well, usually we either hang out together at my house or Karyn's house ... or sometimes the mall."

"Okay. Then what should we do today?" she asked.
