Warmth. That's what it was. Absolute warmth. And it seemed to fill her body up from her toes to her fingers. That and joy. Raw, unbridled joy. Karyn tried to fight it, but the feeling was just too much to handle. Sarah had chosen her!
Until that very moment, she had never thought about cheerleading, let alone joining any other organized sport, but now, it was almost like she couldn't live without it. Karyn's eyes popped open wide with an attentiveness that they never had before. She was used to moping around, but now, she had energy, lots of it, and began to bounce with each step she took toward the bleachers.

"We've gotta get out of here Karyn," Jon said with a rush. "It's like everyone she picks is turning into preppy, ditzy, bimbos!"
"Uh. Karyn?"
Jon looked to his left abruptly -- Karyn was gone!
Spinning around, he saw that his worst nightmare had been realized. Karyn, his best friend, was steadily moving toward the bleachers and a lifetime of who knows what. Who even knew if being his best friend was even true anymore? With each step he noticed Karyn's gait changing, slowly uprighting itself from her normal "who cares" attitude, to something that looked a lot more...Jon shuddered as he thought of the word...snooty. He had to act quickly if he wanted to save his friend.
______
It was so good to be chosen!
Karyn couldn't shake that nagging feeling, though. It was like alarm bells were ringing in the back of her head. Didn't she hate Sarah? No way. She* loved *Sarah, wanted to be Sarah, would do anything for Sarah, but hate her? That was like blasphem blas like really uncool.
She felt like she wasn't setting a good first impression. God, what possessed her to pick out this hideous baggy sweatshirt and jeans? It did absolutely nothing to show off her figure, which seemed to get more and more toned and lean as she came to the foot of the bleachers. She was looking forward to trying everything on while shopping for a new wardrobe. Sandy, Randi, Leanne, Tiffany, and Sarah all had such great taste -- they'd be able to tell her what to wear.
Karyn felt another nagging, this time on her back. She turned to swat whatever it was away, but when she looked behind her, it was Jon Gibson, looking desperate. Had he been perv'ing on her this whole time?
*______
It was like she didn't listen! Jon had been tugging on Karyn's sweatshirt for about ten yards before she even noticed him. Although, he almost wished she hadn't - the look on her face was remarkably un-Karyn. In fact, it was almost like she was judging him. As they reached the bottom of the bleachers, Jon decided to make one last push. Literally. "Karyn, snap OUT of it!," he exclaimed and threw his arms forward to push her down.
Jon saw Karyn in front of him as he moved forward, but what he didn't see was the first step on the ground.
"Our fifth recruit is Karyn uh, what?" Tiffany was taken aback by the loud bang that was Jon Gibson, falling head over heels into the first row.
His vision was blurry- all Jon could do was count the number of indentations in the cool steel of the first row of bleachers. As things came back into focus he saw Karyn, standing next to the rest of the cheerleaders, giggling and laughing as if nothing had happened. Then, it was blocked by a long tanned leg, accessorized by pristine white athletic trainers stepping right into his field of vision.
"Hey girls, looks like we've got someone else who wants to join our squad!" Sarah cackled with delight...
