Mrs. Jos stood up from her new husband's lap, then said "I'm sorry, but no. Mortals who know nothing of the 'magical' workings of you or the elves will ever remember you even existing. I'm sorry, but it's highly unlikely that your family and friends would even recognize you, let alone remember you, if you ever returned to where you came from. This is your home now. This is your life."
Santa Jos slumped over a bit, feeling sad.
"Oh, don't be like that," his wife said. "I can make your life here a good one. I can give you whatever you desire."
Santa Jos wasn't sure about that. What he wanted more than anything was to return to his hometown of Lake Point, to be with his family, to be with Karyn. But it seemed that he wouldn't be getting any of that.

Meanwhile, back in Lake Point, Karyn was knocking on the front door to Jon's house. A moment later, the door opened, revealing Jon's mom Linda Gibson.
"Yes, can I help you?" she asked.
"Oh, hi, Mrs. Gibson. Is Jon around? I tried calling him, but ..."
"I'm sorry, but do I know you? And who is this Jon you're talking about?"
Karyn's eyes went wide. Why didn't Jon's mom remember her own son? Had he done something with the stone to make this happen?
Normally, no one would remember Jon ever existing, like Mrs. Jos said, but since Karyn had used the stone, which was "magical", she still remembered her best friend. But without the stone, how would she ever be able to find him?
